Orleans voters have a chance to purchase a 2.2 acre parcel of waterfront land at the special fall town meeting.

What is on the warrant?

25 October 2024 - ORLEANS, MA - An option to purchase a 2.2 acre parcel for $2.5 million appears on the warrant at the upcoming Orleans special town meeting. Proponents say it will add water access and potentially address other town use needs.


When is the cost of the land?

An agreement with the owners gives the town the right to purchase the property for $2.5 million; the town say that represent about a half million dollars off the market value and advocates for the purchase.


Select Board chair Mark Mathison says it brings the town multiple opportunities including water access and parking, as well as the potential to use an existing house on the site as housing for lifeguards or as a base of operations for for the Massachusetts Housing & Climate Innovation center, which would  help spur economic development.


When is special town meeting?

Orleans special town meeting is schedule for October 28, 2024 at 6 pm at the Nauset Middle School.
