Why should you maintain your tools?

October 2024 - Cape Cod MA - October marks a perfect time to clean, maintain, and take care of the garden tools, says garden coach Priscilla Husband. She says a little TLC makes tools last longer, work better, and protect plants.

What kinds of blades will you find?

Most garden tools fall into one of three categories and each has its own set of maintenance techniques:

  • Bypass is the the curved blade, like lopers
  • Scissor cut are scissor style blades,  like grass sheers and hedge trimmers
  • Anvil cut features a bevel in both sides

Is it hard to maintain garden tools?

It makes a little bit of time - and makes a perfect October gardening project - but tool maintenance is straightforward. Watch garden coach Priscilla Husband demonstate how in this episode of In the Garden.
