What was the Recharge Cape Cod Expo?

Electric vehicles rolled out under the tents at the Recharge Cape Cod expo, Saturday June 3, where attendees drove, rode, and explored a dozen car and truck brands, along with several varieties of electric bikes and an electric bus. Despite a cold overcast June day, people queued up at the Hyannis Transportation Center to get some hands-on time and conversations with cars, vendors, and EV enthusiasts. 


What happened at the Recharge Cape Cod Expo?

The Cape Cod Recharge expo included a dozen models of electric cars and trucks for test drives,  two varieties of electric bikes available for test rides, and an electric bus to walk through. It also features vendors providing information about EV rebates and home station installation as well as EV owners sharing their experiences in the EV world.


What is the state of electric vehicles on Cape Cod?

Electric vehicles have come long way since the first EV expo on Cape Cod three years ago. Local organizers say that at that event, owners represented early adopters and for many attendees it was a first look at the cars. In contrast, the Cape now has many EVs and an ongoing conversation about electric options. 


What is the state of electric charging on Cape Cod?

Prior the event Terry Gallagher, co-founder of the Cape Cod Electric Vehicle Association, shared his experience driving cross coutry in his EV, as well as some insights into the need for a fast charging infrasture on Cape Cod. As a tourist destination, he said, the need for fast charging on the Cape directly supports the long term viability of this economic sector.
