What is National Voter Registration Day?

19 September 2024 - BARNSTABLE, MA - This year's National Voter Registration Day took place September 17 can came with a clear message: register to vote AND show up to vote. The Cape Cod League of Women Voters echoed that loud and clear in their booth at the Cape Cod Community College in Barnstable.


"Democracy is not a spectator sport" reminded League Member Anita Rogers, as she extolled the value of voting and having an active voice in our government. "Our mission is to register and inform voters so voters can engage and participate in democracy."


What is Constitution Day?

This years, National Voter Registration Day shared its date with Constitution Day. Constitution Day marks the Sept 17 1787 adoption of the US Constitution. "Without the Constitution we wouldn't be voting explained League of Women Voters and Voter Service Committee member Rosemary Shields.

This year, National Voter registration day coincided with Constitution Day, which marks the September 1787 adoption of the US Constitution.
