What does the future hold for Nauset elementary schools?

09 January 2025 -- BREWSTER, MA -- In December, local officials announced Brewster, Orleans and Eastham received a $150,000 state grant to study elementary and middle school efficiency and sustainability. The one-year study, set to begin later this year, will examine Stony Brook, Eddy, Orleans and Eastham Elementary, as well as Nauset Regional Middle School. According to officials, results will influence how the towns approach the potential regionalization and consolidation of school resources moving forward.


What will the grant be used for?

By the end of the first quarter, the towns will select consultant to work on gathering and analyzing data about the elementary schools. The grant will support the work of the consultants and the public processes that will lead to a set of recommendations for best structure of elementary education in the Nauset School District.


What is the timeline?

The grant has been awarded. The next step, selection of consultants, is currently underway and should be completed by the end of first quarter. The town expect the research and analyze process to take about year, with a set of recommendations in the first quarter of 2026. The exact recommendations will then have their own implementation timelines thereafter.
