What is Soup Bowls for Hunger?

10 April 2025 - HARWICH, MA - The Cape's iconic Soup Bowls for Hunger returned with its strong collaboration between the Cape Cod Potters, Cape Cod Tech School, and The Family Pantry. For almost four decades, this annual event brings the community together to eat soup from handmade bowls to help support the work of The Family Pantry.

How Does Soup Bowls for Hunger Work?

All year long, the Cape Cod Potters create small soup bowls. Students at Cape Cod Tech culinary program prepare and serve soup and bread. Attendees select a bowl and enjoy soup bread, and fellowship and then take the bowl home with them.

Is there Hunger on Cape Cod?

The Family Pantry's executive director Christine Menard says that food insecurity on Cape Cod is an issue that has continued to grow over the decades. This year, she said, has seen growing demand. The Soup Bows for Hunger fundraiser raises both awareness about and funds to help combat hunger on Cape Cod.
