Eighth Annual Run Supports Cape military veterans, active military, and miltary families

What is Ruck4HIT?

Mashpee-based non-profit Heroes in Transition holds an annual run across Cape Cod. Runners complete a 220 mile 36-hour relay wearing rucksacks with 20 pounds of weight to represent the weight carried by military personnel in the field.

What does it benefit?

Heroes in Transition supports  Cape Cod veterans, active-service military members and their families through a variety of programs.

When did it start?

This year represents the eighth year of the Cape-wide Ruck4HIT run. Cyndy Jones co-founded the group in 2009, in memory of her son Capt. Eric A. Jones. Capt. Jones served as a Marine helicopter pilot and  lost his life supporting a combat mission in Afghanistan on October 26, 2009. The organization says it "carries on Capt. Jones’ mission by providing assistance to those who have served or who are serving our country."
