What is Lower Cape Pride?

21 March 2025 - ORLEANS, MA - Lower Cape Pride says it is planning a multi-day celebration in June. Unity in Community includes the gentle small town joys of a multi-generational BBQ, inclusive pride parade, and afternoon of music and performance.

From a Friday night social in Orleans through a parade on Saturday ending at the artist shacks in Orleans to an afternoon of music, art, and performance at Cape Rep Theatre in Brewster, organizers say the weekend will celebrate its LGBTQ+ community and the community at large.

Why Unity in Community?

"So much goes on in Provincetown and there's a lot that goes on in Hyannis and Falmouth but there is this kind of of area that isn't really being served or celebrated," said Katie Castagno, member of the event's programming committee. "Especially now, politically, it is a really important time to come together as a community and show that we celebrate you and we are you and you're safe here."

What will happen during Unity in Community?

Organizers say the weekend will kick off with a social in Orleans Friday evening, an informal parade from the Library to the Artist Shacks in Orleans, and an afternoon of performance including Castagno's Our Queer Elders songwriting project, a series of narratives, and a nod to drag art. Sunday brings interfaith services, as well as programming from various partners including libraries and local businesses.
