"It's in Orleans" slogan rings even truer this summer on the first Friday of every month.

“I would love to see in 2025, maybe every Friday. But this was to dip our toes in for First Fridays and see what it was like and see if there was an appetite between the business owners and the people that visit Orleans.”

Judy Lindahl
Executive Director, Orleans Chamber of Commerce

What are First Fridays in Orleans?

JUNE 2024 - ORLEANS, MA -  The First Friday initiative, organized by local business owners and the Orleans Chamber of Commerce, aims to bring more activity to Orleans on summer evenings. On the first Friday of June, July, August, September and October, stores and restaurants will have outdoor shopping, refreshments, deals and refreshments all throughout the town.

What can one expect to find at First Fridays?

More than 30 local businesses are participating in the initiative, including The Sparrow Store, Sea Howl Bookshop, Goody’s Tattoo, Friends’ Marketplace, Nauset Farms and more. At June’s first Friday on June 7, several businesses hosted live musicians outside their storefronts and offered free refreshments. The next First Friday will take place on July 5, when they expect to see high turnout due to the holiday weekend, said First Friday organizer and owner of Adorn Molly Avellar.

What are the goals behind First Fridays?

Judy Lindahl, executive director of the Orleans Chamber of Commerce, said the Chamber hopes this initiative will entice people to stay in Orleans and will keep the town lively on summer evenings, as most businesses often close around 5 or 6 p.m. Avellar added that the initiative brings neighbors and community members together when they spend time at these events and getting to know one another.
